February can be a fresh start for working toward a new goal. Whether you want to save more money, get organized, or take time out for self-care, a monthly challenge can help you accomplish your personal goals.
Plus, there are only 28 days this month, so it's easier to stick with…right? Check out these fantastic ideas for February challenges to try!
Finance February Challenges
If your goal is to save more money, then you should try a money-savings challenge for the month of February. Money challenges can make saving money easier and much more fun. Here are a few ideas you can try:
$5 Savings Challenge
There are actually different types of the $5 challenge. For example, one has you save every $5 bill you get, and another makes you save $5 a day. Starting a money savings challenge can help you get into a routine of socking back cash for a rainy day.
Check out my $5 challenge post to see different variations of the challenge and ways to make saving easier!
Save a “Latte” Challenge
It’s so easy to grab your favorite cup of joe or latte on your way to work, but it adds up fast. In fact, spending $4 a day, five days a week, adds up to $ 1040 in a year! Learn how the “Save a ‘Latte’ Challenge” works and grab the free printable to track your progress!
Frugal February Challenge
There is also the Frugal February Challenge, where you find ways to be more frugal this month. For instance, canceling unused subscriptions, eating in rather than dining out, and cashing in your spare change can be simple ways to be frugal.
Check out more details for this challenge over at the DIY playbook.
Fitness and Health February Challenges
If you didn’t get going on your fitness and health goals yet, it doesn’t mean you can’t now! Here are a few fun and simple fitness and health challenges to try this month:
Active for 10-Minutes a Day Challenge
For those of us who think it has to be all or nothing, this can be a great fitness challenge to help us start being more active without the overwhelm. And if you think that ten minutes won’t amount to much, you’re wrong. CNN reported that adding just 10 minutes of “vigorous physical activity” to your daily routine can be lifesaving.
So, find a fun exercise you enjoy and make it a goal to get active for at least 10 minutes every day this month.
Journal Daily Challenge
I love journaling. It helps me unwind my mind, and I feel less stressed. That’s not just in my mind, either. In fact, Verywell Mind states that journaling can be an effective way to relieve stress. That’s why making it a goal to journal every day is one of the best February challenges you can do!
So, grab a notebook and your favorite pen, and write your cares away!
Eat Healthier Challenge
Extreme diets are too strict and nearly impossible to stick with long-term. Rather than trying to diet hardcore this month, challenge yourself to eat healthier instead by making healthy swaps.
For instance, maybe eat a salad every day or try to eat a vegetable with every meal. Little changes can lead to big results and it will reduce being overwhelmed by rigid diet rules.
Happiness Challenge
If you’re feeling blue from the cold winter days, then a happiness challenge can help boost your mood. Doing things that bring you joy every day can significantly help improve your mental state.
Check out my 30-Day Happiness Challenge post to begin, which is a bit longer than February but it will start the month of March out right for you too. Plus, you can download the free printable!
Decluttering February Challenges
Are you struggling to declutter and organize despite wanting to work toward a simpler life this year? Decluttering challenges can take the dread out of the deed and motivate you to tackle that clutter once and for all. Here are a few challenge ideas you can try:
5 Items a Day Decluttering Challenge
Decluttering can be very overwhelming, especially if you have too much stuff to go through. That’s why I love the “5 a day” method featured on Apartment Therapy’s site. Instead of trying to tackle an entire room or section of your home, you simply get rid of 5 items every day.
If you get rid of 5 items a day for 28 days, that’s 140 items out of your house! That is a huge amount of stuff you can sort through without decluttering for hours a day. I believe I will be participating in this challenge this month myself.
20 Minutes a Day Decluttering Challenge
I know personally that big projects get put off because we think it all has to be done in one go. Well, that doesn’t work for some of us and leads to being paralyzed from productivity! So, if you struggle with getting started, then try the challenge of decluttering for 20 minutes a day.
The 20/10 rule can be a fun way to do this challenge, too. According to Real Simple, this is where you spend twenty minutes decluttering and follow it with a ten-minute break to do something relaxing. This sounds like one of the most realistic ways to tackle the task of decluttering your home.
Declutter Your Entire Home Challenge
If you are up for a major overhaul and want to just knock out decluttering your entire home, then this challenge is for you. There are quite a few decluttering methods that will work to take on this challenge, but one of my favorites is the 5-box decluttering method.
This method uses five labeled boxes to help you sort through your stuff much faster than normal. Check out my post “Clear Clutter Easily with the 5-Box Decluttering Method” to learn how it works from professional organizer Diane Quintana.
