We live in an era of non-stop noise. Whether it’s constant phone notifications, chitter chatter, or simply filling every single moment with doing something, we all seem to be on the go all the time.
So, the first thing to do when creating a mindful morning routine is to embrace a few moments of silence when you wake up. Give yourself a few minutes for your mind and body to slowly wake up from your deep slumber.
2. Avoid Social Media and the News
Do you grab your phone as soon as you wake up and start scrolling or checking the news? I’ve been soooo guilty of this, and I’m pretty sure most people are, but it’s essential you make it a goal to stay away from technology during your mindful morning routine.
Checking social media can cause you to compare yourself to others and leave you feeling not so great about yourself or your life. Also, seeing non-stop bad news can make you anxious and stressed out.
So, the key to a mindful morning is to avoid social media and the news.
3. Make Your Bed
It may sound silly but making your bed is an important part of a mindful morning routine. Making your bed creates a sense of tidiness, and you can feel proud about accomplishing your first task of the day.
Not only that, one huge benefit is you can get better sleep. That sounds like a great reason to ensure you make your bed every morning.
4. Journal Your Thoughts
My acupuncturist once told me to journal my thoughts first thing in the morning. A brain dump, so to speak. Journaling is a fantastic addition to your mindful morning routine.
It reduces stress and anxiety while sparking inspiration too! Journaling has many benefits, and it’s a great way to start the day.

It’s no secret that yoga benefits your overall physical and mental health. It helps reduce stress, improves flexibility, and increases muscle strength and tone. Do you know what else it helps with? Mindfulness.
So, it makes sense to add a gentle yoga practice to your mindful morning routine. If you are a beginner, Yogi, don’t fret. There are a ton of excellent videos on YouTube that can help you start slow and improve with time.

6. Sit Outside
Sitting outside and listening to the birds is one of my favorite ways to spend my mindful morning. It’s soothing to drink a delicious cup of java while enjoying the outdoors.
Being outside is good for your health and wellbeing. It can help you relax, increase happiness, and you can get much-needed vitamin D!
If you aren’t able to get outside for some reason, try to open a window and sit next to it for some fresh air.
