Whether it’s that time of year when it gets dark at 2 p.m.—😆 or you just need a cozy night in from the hustle and bustle of the world— I get it! Now that I have found Hygge living (inspired by the Danes,) I’m embracing cozy evenings in more and more.

The Danes are pros at enjoying cozy nights in. They have learned how to enjoy life every day by appreciating simple pleasures and slowing down.

This is known as Hygge. So, of course, a cozy night in is a great way to practice Hygge, and you could save some cash from not going out too!

With that being said, let’s dive into the top 10 ways to have an enjoyable evening in!

So are you ready to have a wonderful cozy night in? Here are 10 ideas for an amazing night!

  1. Snuggle With Your Fur-Baby and Just Relax

One of my favorite things to do for a cozy night in is snuggle with my fur-babies. Perhaps it’s because cuddling with your pet actually reduces stress and makes you feel happy! So, it’s not just my imagination. Plus, it helps your fur-baby feel needed and loved too.

No matter whether you have an adorable kitty cat, a lovable pup, or even a pet iguana—grab those cute little babies and spend the evening simply holding them as you both take a time out and relax.

 2. Read a Good Book by Candlelight

Ah, candles, one of the ultimate ways to apply Hygge to your life. Pick a quiet spot, light some candles, and take in a good book that is on your to-read list.

There is just something serene about the flame of a candle flickering while escaping the stress of the day through your favorite book.

 3. Cuddle on the Couch and Watch an Old Movie

Talk about the perfect cozy night in! It’s important to have date nights with your spouse, and sometimes the simpler the better.

Grab some fluffy pillows, a fuzzy blanket, and put in one of your go-to movies. Or you could even rewatch the first movie you ever saw together to spark up some romantic memories.

 4. Have a Fun Fondue Feast

Do you want to include something tasty for your cozy night in? Then a fondue feast is a must! You can start it with delicious melted cheese with an array of vegetables, crackers, and meats.

Afterward, you can switch it to a succulent dessert platter of melted chocolate, fruit, marshmallows, and pretzel sticks. Is anyone else’s mouth-watering?

 5. Relax with a Spa Night

It’s so easy to always be on the go and never take time out for some self-care. So, treat yourself to a luxurious spa night at home.

Light some candles and take a nice bubble bath while listening to some relaxing jazz music. Drench yourself in thick creamy body butter or moisturizer, and put on some thick fuzzy socks to treat your feet too.

 6. Bake a Yummy Dessert

How long has it been since you have made a dessert from scratch? Or have you ever? Why not have a cozy night in and try your hand at baking your favorite dessert?

Whether it’s blackberry cobbler, peanut butter pie, or a batch of chocolate chip cookies, you can satisfy your tastebuds while enjoying a simple evening in.

Do you want to know another perk of baking other than the sweet aroma and eating it? Baking actually alleviates stress! So, pop on an apron and test out your baking skills.

 7. Journal Your Cares Away

It’s probably no shocker that one of my favorite things to do is journal. Journaling helps with self-discovery and is a safe space to write down your worries, dreams, or whatever else is bouncing around in that beautiful brain of yours.

So, pour yourself a glass of wine or your favorite cocktail and take some time with yourself and your thoughts.

 8. Play Vintage Video Games

To me, old school is the best of everything. I’m not big on today’s games; they’re a bit too graphic for me. (Whoa, I sound old)

But I love vintage video games. Bring out the Super Nintendo or Playstation and enjoy a cozy night in playing games. Don’t forget the snacks!

 9. Do Something Creative

I love being creative, and I think it’s one of the best ways to spend a cozy night in. My personal favorites are painting, making crafts, drawing, and playing the piano.

It can be something you already love to do or something you want to learn. For instance, if you have always wanted to learn how to crochet or knit, then do that!

10. Make a Yummy Hot Drink and Listen to Some Tunes

Soothe your soul with some good tunes and a tasty hot drink. As much as I love coffee, try to opt for something like hot chocolate or hot tea instead. (Since it’s in the evening time)

You can try something new too, such as a spiced cider! As far as music goes, go for whatever vibe you are feeling. Blues, jazz, classical, it doesn’t matter, just as long as it puts you in your happy place.

Treat Yourself to a Cozy Night In!

Don’t just do one or two things from the list; give all ten a try! Life passes by so fast, so it’s super important to slow down and be in the moment.

If you find it hard to make time for yourself as I do, then put it on your weekly schedule. Pick a night and stick to it. Trust me; you will feel so much better if you do!
